This eccentric, unique, owl bowl was so easy to make, and super fun as well! The DIY is pretty self explanatory but I'll talk you through the steps I took!
What I used-
• Polymer Clay
• Clay Blade/ Exacto Knife
• Paint
• Polymer Clay tools
What I did-
I began by sketching out an out line of what I wanted my owl to look like. You can print one out online, or draw your own, or use the Internet as inspiration!
I took the color I wanted the base of my bowl to be and conditioned the clay. I rolled it into a ball and flattened it out. You can trace a cup or use a circle cutter, but I wanted to have a wavy edge to add detail and eccentricity,
Then, I rolled out a thin layer of light pink clay. I traced the basic outline of my owl, cut it out and placed it in the middle of my circle base. I then, used my tools to neaten edges.
I then added details.
Two white circles combined for the eyes, with purple dots in them.
A purple triangle for the beak.
Two purple wings.
And the purple feet.
Next, I rolled out a long, thin "snake" and outlined the basic outline of my owl. I then used my needle tool to carve out the details. I drew "U" like shapes on the Owls stomach to look like feathers, but left a flat, un-etched area to later paint on my heart. I also etched lines on the wings.
Later, I placed my flat, designed circle of clay and placed it inside an upside down cap a mason jar. I gently pushed down in the center and baked according to the instructions on my clay. * you could use air dry.
Lastly, I painted on extra details such as the pupils of the owl, the heart in the stomach, the eyelashes, and the edge of the bowl gold, I am also going to glass my bowl with clay glaze!
This bowl is adorable room decor and perfect for a Velenrines day gift!
This is extra perfect if you are planning on gifting jewelry!
This is also a great gift for your- Mom, sister, grandma, friend, aunt, girlfriend, daughter, teacher, etc! You can even pair it with a corny note like . . .
Owl always love you!
Or
Who... Who... Couldn't love you!
